A common language for working together

Everything DiSC®

When people work differently, it’s easy to mistake a different style for a bad attitude. Everything DiSC® helps each person understand their own style and the styles of the people around them, and it gives the whole team a common language for working through the differences.

Most friction at work starts with a difference in style

Imagine you lead a product team. Your project lead wants to make the call in the meeting and move on, while your senior analyst wants another day to check the numbers before anyone commits. Before long, the project lead describes the analyst as slow, and the analyst describes the project lead as careless. When labels like those start showing up, it usually means the team hasn’t found a common way to talk about how each person works.

Everything DiSC® gives the team that common language. Each person learns their own style and the styles of the people around them, so the conversation between your project lead and your analyst moves from who’s right to how they work best together. For you, that means fewer stalled decisions, more engaged team members, and a better chance of keeping the people you worked hard to hire.

The Everything DiSC® map shows four styles and eight priorities

The Everything DiSC® model arranges four basic styles (D, i, S, and C) on a circular map. Around the edge sit eight priorities, the areas where people tend to put their energy at work. Most people lean toward one or two styles, and everyone draws on all four at different times.

Select a style

Each style tends to put its energy into three of the eight priorities. Select D, i, S, or C to highlight that style on the map and see which priorities usually come first.

Your dot on the map. Each person’s profile places a dot on this map. The direction of the dot shows your style, and its distance from the center shows how strongly you lean toward that style. Your profile then explains what your dot’s position means for the way you work with people of each style.

How the Everything DiSC® assessment is tested

An assessment is only useful if it gives consistent results and measures what it claims to measure. Researchers call those two qualities reliability and validity, and Everything DiSC® is tested for both.

.83

Consistent within each scale

The median internal-consistency reliability (Cronbach’s alpha) across the assessment’s scales. Researchers generally look for .70 or higher.

.86

Consistent over time

The median test-retest reliability over two weeks, which means people who take the assessment twice tend to land in much the same place on the map.

DNV certification mark for occupational test tools

Independently certified

“Everything DiSC Workplace® is DNV certified as an occupational test tool. It is EFPA compliant and to be used for development purposes.”

The certification applies to the English version of Everything DiSC Workplace®.

What the validity research shows

In Wiley’s research, the eight scales relate to one another in the circular pattern the model predicts, and they correlate as expected with two well-established personality measures, the NEO PI-R and the 16PF. The assessment is also adaptive: when someone’s answers on a scale are inconsistent, it asks follow-up questions before placing the dot.

Everything DiSC® measures style, not ability or performance. It is not a selection or evaluation tool, and it should never be used as one. Other products on the market are designed for hiring and performance decisions. Everything DiSC® is designed to help people understand one another and work better together.

Everything DiSC® applications for each part of the job

The same four styles show up in teamwork, management, leadership, conflict, and sales. Each Everything DiSC® application focuses the model on one of those parts of work.

Everything DiSC® on Catalyst™

Each learner takes one assessment and receives a profile on Catalyst™. The profile starts with DiSC® Fundamentals and Everything DiSC Workplace®, and it can grow to include Everything DiSC® Agile EQ™, Everything DiSC® Management, and the five Everything DiSC® Worksmart modules, without anyone retaking the assessment.

Because the platform stays open after the workshop, people can pull up a colleague comparison before their next tough conversation.
